Prenatal Diagnosis in Pericentric Inversion 6

چکیده
A four-year-old girl, the proband along with her mother in her subsequent pregnancy was referred to the genetic clinic for evaluation of global developmental delay with a normal karyotype study. On evaluation, dysmorphic features prompted to repeat the karyotype assessment. An unbalanced pericentric inversion of chromosome 6 in the index child was noticed. This was followed by identification of a balanced carrier status in the mother. Cytogenetic study using amniocentesis performed at our center for the subsequent pregnancy revealed balanced pericentric inversion of chromosome 6 in the fetus to that identified in the mother; a prenatal diagnosis was reached. The couple terminated the pregnancy following the diagnosis at 18 weeks.

Prenatal diagnosis and follow up of a child with a complex chromosome rearrangement.
A case of de novo, apparently balanced, three way exchange by translocation plus a pericentric inversion is described. The karyotype is 46,XX,t(6;11)(p21;q21),t(11;21) (q21;p13),inv(6)(p21q11) and was ascertained through second trimester amniocentesis. The structural rearrangements appear balanced. The child was phenotypically normal at birth. Growth and motor development were normal until 30 m...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Pericentric Inversion, Inv (21) (p12;q22) in Repeated Pregnancy Loss: A Case Report.
Pericentric inversions are among the most frequent chromosomal rearrangements with a frequency of 1-2%. There is no phenotypic effect in the majority of pericentric inversion heterozygote carriers, when it is a balanced rearrangement. However, miscarriages, infertility and/or chromosomally unbalanced offspring can be observed in carriers of a pericentric inversion. This is a case of pericentric...
متن کاملInv21p12q22del21q22 and intellectual disability.
Chromosomal rearrangements are common in humans. Pericentric inversions are among the most frequent aberrations (1-2%). Most inversions are balanced and do not cause problems in carriers unless one of the breakpoints disrupts important functional genes, has near submicroscopic copy number variants or hosts "cryptic" complex chromosomal rearrangements. Pericentric inversions can lead to imbalanc...
متن کاملMiller-Dieker syndrome resulting from rearrangement of a familial chromosome 17 inversion detected by fluorescence in situ hybridisation.
We report a case of Miller-Dieker syndrome (MDS) owing to an unbalanced rearrangement of a familial pericentric inversion of chromosome 17 (inv(17) (p13.3q25.1)). In addition to lissencephaly and the facial features of MDS, the affected child had other congenital malformations consistent with distal 17q duplication. Initial cytogenetic analysis failed to show any abnormality and fluorescence in...
متن کاملGoldenhar Syndrome and Pericentric Inversion of Chromosome 9
Oculo-auriculovertebral dysplasia (Goldenhar) is a congenital syndrome. Its phenotype differs from craniofacial anomalies to cardiac, vertebral or central nervous system defects. This syndrome is rare and its etiology is not apparent yet. Pericentric inversion of chromosome 9 is one of the most common structural balanced chromosomal aberrations with its incidences 15% to 25%. Herein we present ...
